Documents for Membership Account Opening - Personal Accounts

Sole / Joint Accounts

  • In date Photo ID - Drivers License, Passport,
  • Proof of Address - Utility Bill, Bank or Credit Card Statement, Government document dated within last 6 months.
  • Proof of PPSN - Government Document, EU Health Card, HSE Drugs Scheme Card, Social Welfare Document etc.

The Credit Union will ask you to update your ID from time to time. €10 needs to kept in the account at all times to maintain continuity of membership.

Note: Please note that you or any person authorised to withdraw on your account may be asked for ID at any time in the Credit Union. This is to protect your account and ensure we have correctly identified you. Receipts with balances are only provided to named account holders or authorised signatories. Instead a receipt displaying the amount lodged is provided.</p

Minor a/cs (up to age of 16)

  • Photo ID (Passport) or Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Address for a parent dated within 6 months
  • Photo ID for parent if they are not a member or their ID has expired on their own account
  • Proof of PPSN

The Credit Union will ask the Minor turning 16 to sign a new membership form and provide updated ID and Proof of Address. €10 needs to kept in the account at all times to maintain continuity of membership.

Minor accounts operate differently to adult accounts in a number of respects:

  • Below the age of 7 guardians can open and operate an account on behalf of the minor
  • Money in a child’s account is the sole property of the child and no other person (including the parent/guardian or person who originally opened the account) is entitled to use this money for his/her benefit.
  • Guardians will be signing to verify all withdrawals for minor a/cs below the age of 7 to outline all withdrawals are for the sole benefit of the minor.
  • Between the age of 7 and 15 a minor needs to sign the account opening form but can be accompanied by a guardian. The minor must sign for all withdrawals on the account and operate the account.
  • From 16 a minor can have full internet access if they so wish.
  • Any person can lodge to a Minor account, regardless of the age of the minor, but they will not receive a balanced receipt unless the minor is aged under 7. Instead a receipt displaying the amount lodged is provided.
  • No loans can be issued until a minor reaches 18 in accordance with contract law.
  • Nominations cannot be filled out on minor accounts.
  • Authorisation to withdraw cannot be filled out for minor accounts.

Documents for Membership Account Opening - Business Accounts

The Credit Union will ask for ID and Proof of Address to be updated from time to time and for all new signatories. €10 needs to kept in the account at all times to maintain continuity of membership.

Sole Trader Account

  • Six months bank statements (not applicable for business start-ups)
  • Confirmation of tax position (not applicable for business start-ups)
  • The most recent set of audited accounts
  • Certificate of registration
  • In date Photo ID (passport/driving licence)
  • Address verification (bank statement, utility bill, credit card statement)
  • Sole Trader specimen signature mandate

Partnership Account

  • Six months bank statements (not applicable for business start-ups)
  • Confirmation of tax position (not applicable for business start-ups)
  • The most recent set of audited accounts
  • Certificate of registration (if registered)
  • Photo Id (passport/driving licence) for each party to the account
  • Address verification (bank statement, utility bill, credit card statement) for each party to the account.
  • Partnership Mandate indicating signing instruction for the account.

Limited Company Account

  • The most recent set of audited accounts
  • Tax Registration Number (TRN)
  • Companies Registration Office number
  • Six months bank statements (not applicable for business start-ups)
  • A copy of the Memorandum & Articles of Association/Constitution.
  • A copy of the original Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Proof of ID and proof of address for at least 2 directors (passport/driving licence)/(bank statement, utility bill, credit card statement) and for any shareholder owning > 25% of the company.
  • Proof of ID and proof of address for all signatories on the account.
  • Certified list of directors
  • Certified list of shareholders
  • Company mandate incorporating signing instruction for the account and board resolution.

Documents for Membership Account Opening - Club Accounts

  • In date Photo ID and Proof of Address for all signatories/Trustees/Directors/Board Members (dated within 6 months)
  • Proof of Address for Club - utility bill etc dated within 6 months
  • Letter from club signed by chairperson and secretary authorising the opening of the account on headed paper, where available.
  • Legal status - if limited by guarantee etc. and Companies Registration Office Number
  • Club rule book/Memorandum/Constitution
  • List of members of the Executive Committee
  • Copy of Bank Statement or Set of Accounts and Estimate of Lodgements through the account and Turnover
  • Charity Registration Number if available

The Club must update the Credit Union when signatories start / leave promptly. This must be authorised by all signatories in advance of the change and in writing. The Credit Union will ask for ID and Proof of Address to be updated from time to time and for all new signatories. €10 needs to kept in the account at all times to maintain continuity of membership.
